Unrefined Shea Butter
Shea butter is a product of the African shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa). Shea butter is the fat extracted from the shea kernel. Shea nuts are a wild-growing, natural ingredient that have been harvested and processed in West and East African countries for centuries. Get Zen uses unrefined shea butter, which has a natural, nutty aroma that processed shea butter does not. Additionally, further processing of the butter can remove up to 95% of its natural vitamins!

Shea butter contains components that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, such as triterpenes. These are a group of compounds that may aid with cell migration, collagen deposition and cell proliferation, which is the process in which cells grow and divide.
Products like shea butter that contain linoleic acid have anti-inflammatory effects on the skin and hydration boosting properties.
Shea butter also has antioxidant properties that help neutralize free radical damage from sun exposure. It’s also said to help boost collagen production, which gives the skin its plump look and it also helps promote cell regeneration, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Coconut Oil
Studies show that coconut oil can boost the moisture content of dry skin. It may also improve the function of the skin, helping prevent excessive water loss and protecting you from external factors, such as infectious agents, chemicals, and allergens. Coconut oil is comprised of a unique combination of natural fats, which makes it useful in treating the skin. These fatty acids include linoleic acid (which can be beneficial for acne-prone skin) and up to 50% lauric acid (which is hydrating and antimicrobial). Studies show that coconut oil—which is extracted from the meat of mature coconuts—may improve skin barrier function and repair, has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, fights the signs of skin aging, and makes an effective moisturizer, per a 2018 review of research published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.

Organic Rosemary Oil
Rosemary Stimulates hair growth and promotes circulation around the roots, bringing more nutrients to the hair follicles. When hair follicles receive more nutrients, it allows hair to grow faster and stronger.
Rosemary is also reputed to have anti-inflammatory properties, meaning it may help reduce dandruff and patching. In addition, rosemary is also a very masculine smelling scent!

In addition to stimulating circulation that aids growth, rosemary oil is great for moisturizing the skin beneath the beard. This is important because if the skin is not properly moisturized, dandruff or patches could develop, resulting in the beard appearing thin and unhealthy.

In one study, Carnosic acid, an active ingredient in the rosemary plant, healed tissue and nerve damage. This ability to heal nerve endings may rejuvenate nerves in the scalp too, and in so doing, possibly restore hair growth.

Pure Cedarwood Oil
Cedarwood oil comes from the cedar tree, which is what gives it its fresh, masculine scent and a study done on individuals suffering from hair loss showed encouraging results in terms of growth. The scent is famous in aromatherapy for its stress-relieving properties and its reputable ability to help improve concentration. It also contains some sedative properties and many find it effective at reducing anxiety and promoting restful sleep.

Cedarwood oil also has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, making it beneficial for skin conditions like acne and it may also reduce the appearance of scars, treat minor wounds, alleviate arthritis pain, and sooth symptoms of eczema.

Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet almond oil contains  Vitamin E, which  keeps skin cells healthy, protects skin from UV radiation damage, and helps skin to look smooth, supple, and free of fine lines. The fatty acids help skin retain moisture and can heal chapped and irritated skin. Additionally, vitamin A in the oil, can help to reduce acne.

Vitamin E is also an extremely powerful antioxidant. Oxidative stress (resulting when your body does not have enough antioxidants to fight free radicals) is a major cause of the deterioration of skin’s collagen, which keeps skin looking supple and wrinkle-free. Antioxidants combat the effects of oxidative stress.

Sweet almond oil is also mostly non-comedogenic, meaning it’s unlikely to clog pores.
